Career choices made easier with a simple tool - Hire Imaging
Career choices made easier with a simple tool - Hire Imaging As with many decisions, it sometimes helps to put thoughts down on paper or screen; and play with the answers. Mix it up. Be honest. Hereâs a career choices tool that can help you identify what you want and do not want in functions or tasks (your professional goal), field or industries (your target market) and other factors (work environments and logistics related to work). Awareness is power Writing down options and possibilities helps you see how to transfer skills into other functions or industries; and then to define short-term and long-term goals. Itâs good to remember that the jobs or tasks you performed in the past are not necessarily the best ones for your future. A job should maximize your best skills, but should also cover other important factorsâ"your values, interests and preferences to name a few. It worked for Brian My client, Brian told me he felt like a deer caught in the headlights. For the last 18 years at a software company, he had worked his way up the corporate ladder, earning an MBA in marketing along the way. In his last position as a regional vice president, he was accountable for one of his companyâs largest and most profitable business units. Brian loved the autonomy and diversity of his responsibilities. He considered himself a hands-on but quiet leader, good at wearing many hats. He took great pride in his ability to motivate and challenge staff to do extremely well. Then the acquisition was announced. Brian had to decide whether to move his family or stay in his current city. A community leader, active in many organizations, Brian decided not to relocate, accepted the separation package and set about finding another position. He had loved his career, but was uncertain about what direction to take. Brianâs written words You could put this in a chart or table format, but hereâs the gist of Brianâs written discoveries: Professional goal / job functions or tasks: What kind of work do I want to do? Do not want: Heavy sales or financial responsibilities Might want: Marketing, consulting, managing operations or supervising people Do want: To run the show Target market / fields or industries: Where do I want to work? Do not want: Financial services, insurance, transportation, retail or a mammoth company Might want: Computer industry, own a business, non-profit Do want: Small-to-medium-sized organization Other ingredients / work environment: Whatâs the culture? What are the logistics? Do not want: Relocation or excessive travel Might want: Something new and different, moderate travel Do want: Remain in current location, making a difference, a challenge, time for outside interests Brian tweaked and modified as he continued in his search. The career choices tool helped him with some metrics to find the best overall fit. Combining his leadership and marketing experience with his love for community outreach and making a difference , Brian accepted a position as Marketing and Membership Director of a mid-sized non-profit headquartered in his hometown. Now seven months into his new job, Brian is feeling confident that he chose wisely. He credits putting thoughts to paper (or screen) as being very helpful. Photo: Mike Licht

Now Might Be The Time To Ask...
Now Might Be The Time To Ask... Did you have a seasonal job over the holidays? Did you love that job and wish it could last longer? Now might be the time to ask if there are any openings in a full- or part-time position. Heres why: You have been a part of the team as a temp worker, so you know the ropes You are a familiar face hopefully, a good impression has been made You can suggest ways your assets can be a good fit for their goals Your paperwork is already on file Even if they do not have a way to fit you in right now, ask that your resume be kept on file and that you be alerted to openings in the future. If there is a way to stay in touch with what is happening at the company like a newsletter get on the list. There are common mistakes to avoid in a job search, like neglecting your current temporary job to try and snag a better one. Just because a job is temporary does not mean it is unimportant, and the networking effects of doing a good job linger. The reality is that everything you do the interactions you have and the memories you leave behind at a seasonal job still count. Its part of your resume, and its part of your reputation. If you have been doing a good job at a temporary position, you will be remembered positively when you submit your application for a permanent one. Good luck!

Some Tips For Designing a Resume
Some Tips For Designing a ResumeA registered nurse resume needs a lot of patience, with a lot of tweaking. When you are designing a resume, it is necessary to be able to identify those points that will bring you success. After all, your resume will be being reviewed by the HR department. Let us take a look at some of the ways to ensure that your resume will stand out and attract the attention of an employer. Many employers will need to have interest-test data to validate that you have the necessary experience to handle a particular position. Although you cannot entirely know this, you can use the interest-test data to identify if the employer will find your personality suitable for the job. Even if you do not get this opportunity, you can use a profile-test to ensure that your resume is sufficiently detailed. In the interest-test data, you should make sure that the candidate has had a history of working in a hospital or in a medical field, so that the employer will not need to search f or an alternative. One way to accomplish this is to check if the person has completed a clinical course or exam at a recognized institution or institute. While the institution may be easy to locate, this may not always be the case. This is why a profile-test should be included in your resume examples. The third and perhaps the most important part of your resume should be the keyword-test. It is important to note that it is not just a matter of making sure that you can capitalize the keyword. It is also important to check the amount of keywords that you use. Your key word-test should include a list of keywords that you can use to attract the employer's attention. Many employers will expect you to have publications, research papers, or reports that you have produced. This can help your resume shine. However, remember that the best way to show your research will be to include more than one example. You can either combine two or three or even more examples of your work, to increase the in terest-test results. One more interesting idea is to write a letter to the employer, with your request for a new position. In your letter, do not talk about your skills, but highlight the need for your expertise. This can certainly help your resume stand out and show the employer that you are an exceptional candidate. Since you are asking for a change, you should have more than enough reasons to give your services to the employer. If you really want to get more job opportunities, it is always a good idea to keep in touch with the employer after you've been chosen. Since the employer may already have a limited number of candidates, it would be good to tell them about your efforts to improve yourself. This is because you might be the right candidate to help the company cut costs.

My Coworker Is Trying to Sabotage Me  What Do I Do
My Coworker Is Trying to Sabotage Me What Do I Do Being a temp at a company can be hard. Constantly worrying whether or not you will be offered a full-time stelle at the end of your contract is stressful, especially when you feel like your coworkers are sabotaging your chances at a full-time job.One Fairygodboss userreached out to our Community to ask for advice on this scenario.Ive been at my new temp-to-hire position for about two months now, and after 90 days, if all goes well, it will turn into a permanent position. At first, things were great. For the past two to three weeks though, I have been feeling this tension growing with one of the women I work very closely with, and I cannot figure out what went wrong, she wrote. It started off with a little bit of attitude here and there and now its at full-blown sabotage, she continued. She will make me jump through hoops (unnecessarily) to do way mora work than needed for her own amusement and to make me look like I dont know what Im doing, withhold information, give me wrong information, take all of the work to make it seem like Im not doing enough, telling other co-workers how Ive messed up x, y and z even though 9 times out of 10 I havent and just loud enough so my boss can overhear it too. And I could go on and on, she wrote.I am a hard worker. I offer to help others with anything when Ive gotten my work done. I come in early sometimes and stay a little late if needed. Just all in all eager to learn and do a good job. I do all of this, because I am a temp-to-hire and this job will turn into a permanent position of all goes well Im worried that this could potentially cause me to not be hired on permanently at the end of the 90 days, because she has been there over a year and I dont know if she could have any sway with me getting the offer or not. Does anyone have any advice? I asked her in the beginning if I had done anything to upset her, and she said no and that she liked me, but its gotten so much worse s ince then, she continued.Several FGBers responded to offer their best advice. One FGBer recommended reaching out to the temp agency. Is your temp role through an agency? If so, I recommend reaching out to your recruiter to voice your concerns. They may have some history/insight with the team you work on. Dont let someone elses behavior prevent you from doing your best in this role she said.Another suggested documenting the incidents. Please document, and document thoroughly, with verifiable examples of her attempts at sabotage. First, youll feel better having written everything down. Second, if it ever comes to a he said/she said situation between you and this co-worker, your teamberater will certainly be impressed by your thoroughness and foresight. We agree. Documenting workplace incidents, regardless of whether or not you do anything with said documents, can be the proof you may need if the situation turns dire. If you truly feel as though your manager or other co-workers feel your w ork is lackluster due to this sabotage, you can present your notes to your HR department. Reach out to HR before you reach out to your boss and present the material youve gathered.Another FGBer left the troubled temp with a wonderful quote. You can be the juiciest, ripest, peach in the world, and theres still going to be people who hate peaches, - Dita Von Teese, she wrote. If youre still befuddled daily about what is vexing this woman, stop trying to wrack your brain about what youve done wrong. Remain authentic, improve on whatever you can, and strive to provide solid value every day. Check with your work manager regularly for his/her feedback. Take on more responsibility with a smile and shine on. You will become her manager some day.Never let others jealousy dull your shine, especially in the workplace. Continue to put forth your best effort, and your managers and team will see you for the hard-working employee you are.To all the other hard-working Fairygodboss women out there, r each out to our Community for any work-related questions you may have
